BMX Track
The track has been built in the South West corner of the Memorial Park, the group had to overcome many barriers to make the build of the track happen.
Firstly the members of the group liaised with the younger members of the community to identify the need for play equipment in the community, they did this by form of consultation with schools and residents.
The next step for members of the group was to investigate the possibilities of leasing the area of land in the Memorial Park as the land was owned by Pembrokeshire County Council. Due to a number of issues the Friends of the Memorial Park were unable to lease the area of land from the County Council, so members approached Pembroke Dock Town Council for help. Members of Pembroke Dock Town Council agreed to take on the lease from the County Council to ensure that the area could be developed by the group.
Once this lease agreement for the area had been sought the next barrier for the group was planning permission and raising funds for the project to go ahead.
Members of the group and officers of the Town Council liaised with oficers from the County Council to ensure a smooth planning application process, there were some conditions which were stipulated by the County Council which meant a sound barrier fence needed to be erected on the west boundary of the park and for the Local Policing Team to carry out regular patrols of the area to limit anti-social behaviour.
Tenders were sought from specialist contractors with regards to the build of the BMX track, and the build went ahead. All the hard work by the group formed the BMX track as shown above
